Abstract
Tc-99(m)-tetrofosmin imaging was performed in 23 thyroid cancer patien ts and compared with whole-body I-131 scans, neck ultrasonography and plasma thyroglobulin levels. Of 22 patients with differentiated thyroi d cancer, 8 showed identical images on I-131 scan and tetrofosmin; 1 p atient with medullary cancer had identical images with Tc-99(m)-DMSA a nd Tc-99(m)-tetrofosmin, the findings being confirmed by sonography. T he potential usefulness of Tc-99(m)-tetrofosmin imaging in the follow- up of thyroid cancers is discussed.
