Abstract
Successful medical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease depends on the judicious use of the therapeutic agents available. This, in turn, depends on the severity of patients' symptoms and the extent and locat ion of the disease. This article describes the drug therapy and approa ch to specific clinical presentations encountered in patients with ulc erative colitis and Crohn's disease.
