Y. Isawa, SPONTANEOUS AND STIMULATED-EMISSION OF RADIATION FROM AN ATOM IN A RESONATOR, Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 64(8), 1995, pp. 2771-2775
Using a tight binding approach, the Green's function for radiation fie
lds (RF) in a resonator is calculated by considering that they are int
eracting with a vacuum field in an external environment outside the re
sonator. The general formulas for the rates of the spontaneous and sti
mulated emission from an atom in an excited state are given, of which
the latter is evaluated for an initial state with only one photon. The
emission rate is obtained for an arbitrary ratio between the waveleng
th of RF and the cavity length. The stimulated emission is also contro
llable by changing an initial one-photon state and an atomic position.
