K. Kishigi et al., DHVA EFFECT WITH QUANTUM INTERFERENCE OSCILLATION DUE TO MAGNETIC BREAKDOWN, Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 64(8), 1995, pp. 3043-3059
The effect of the magnetic breakdown on the dHvA oscillation is studie
d by full-quantum numerical calculation for a two-dimensional model. W
e demonstrate that the interference difference oscillation, usually de
signated as beta-alpha, exists even in the thermodynamic quantity; thi
s result is contrary to the conventional semi-classical picture. In ad
dition, the dependencies of various oscillations of the magnetization
on the held, temperature and band gap are examined thoroughly and comp
ared with the semi-classical theory by Falicov and Stachoviak, which i
s based on the Pippard's coupled network model and the Lifshitz-Kosevi
ch formula. We discuss the relevance of our calculation to the observe
d interference difference frequencies in the dHvA oscillation of magne
sium and in the SdH oscillation of two-dimensional organic conductors.
