Ag. Giumanini et al., HYDROCARBONS AND CHLOROAROMATICS FROM ANILINES AND N-BUTYL NITRITE, Recueil des travaux chimiques des Pays-Bas, 114(7), 1995, pp. 311-315
A single reagent, i.e. n-butyl nitrite, can be used to oxidize an arom
atic amine, or the corresponding N-methylene derivative, to a diazo co
mpound followed by its subsequent reduction to hydrocarbon in a single
batch. Alternatively, a chloro derivative can be obtained if carbon t
etrachloride is used as the solvent. The reactions appear to be genera
l and complete product identification was accomplished.
