Abstract
An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the effect of some important parameters on nucleate pool boiling of three single components (distilled water, ethanol and cyclohexane) and a multicomp onent system, kerosene at atmospheric pressure. The heat transfer surf ace was a horizontal stainless steel tube of 31.9 mm o.d. with an effe ctive area of 1.59 x 10(-2) m(2). Heating of the test section was done by an electric heater placed inside the tube. The heat flux was varie d in steps from 2.51 to 32.67 KW/m(2). The effect of heat flux on heat transfer coefficient has been discussed. The experimental data for al l the test liquids was best correlated by a general correlation in ter ms of dimensionless groups.
