A one-stage populational study of a random representative sample of th
e nonorganized community of Novosibirsk was carried our within the fra
mework of the WHO CINDI and MONICA projects. There were 1235 men and 1
113 woman aged 25-54 years. The prevalence of coronary heart disease a
nd the main risk factors was studied in quartiles of energy losses dis
tribution during occupational physical activity (OPA) and physical act
ivity at leisure (PAL). The men demonstrated a nonlinear relationship
between the prevalence of the painless form of CHD and the level of OP
A, which manifested in a considerable increase of the incidence of tha
t CHD form in the 2nd and 4th quartiles of OPA (Friedman's criterion S
= 69, p < 0.003). The women showed a nonlinear relationship between C
HD prevalence on the whole and the level of OPA, characterized by a no
ticeable increase of the incidence of the above-indicated form of CHD
in the 2nd and 4th quartiles of OPA (S = 62, p < 0.02). Besides, the w
omen demonstrated an increase in the incidence of CHD on the whole in
the 4th quartile of PAL (S = 69, p < 0.003).
