Abstract
Thermal properties, oxidation, hardness, thermal expanstion, electric resistance and Young's modulus were examined for Zr67Cu33, Zr65Al7.5Cu 27.5, Zr65Al7.5Ni10Cu17.5 and Zr60Al15Co2.5Ni7.5Cu15 amorphous alloys with a wide super-cooled liquid region. The results show that (1) Zr65 Al17.5Ni10CU17.5 and Zr60Al15Co2.5Ni7.5CU1.5 alloys are very stable ag ainst oxidation up to high temperature of about 650 K, (2) Zr60Al15Co2 .5Ni7.5Cu15 alloy is extremely softened in the temperature range of th e supercooled liquid region, (3) The thermal expansion coefficient of Zr60Al15Co2.5Ni7.5Cu15 alloy is very small of 0.9 x 10(-5) K-1, at tem peratures below the glass transition temperature (T-S), (4) Temperatur e coefficient of electric resistance of Zr60Al15Co2.5Ni7.5Cu15 alloy i s small of -9 x 10(-5) K-1 below about 510 K and (5) Young's modulus i ncreases with increase of alloying components. The temperature dependa nce of Young's modulus is of the order of as small as similar to 10(-5 ) K-1 except for Zr67Cu33 alloys.
