Abstract
We have studied the crystallization behavior of amorphous Fe-B-Si allo
ys through the differential scanning calorimetry, electrical resistivi
ty measurement, X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy
, putting major emphasis on the appearance of the Fe-Si phase. The res
ults were discussed in the light of Dubois and Le Caer's structural mo
del. The amorphous alloys used in this study crystallized in two steps
. The first step was the crystallization of the solid solution alpha-F
e(Si). The appearance of alpha-Fe(Si) decreased the resistivity and in
creased its temperature coefficient. We estimated the volume fraction
of alpha-Fe(Si) from changes in the temperature coefficient. The cryst
allization enthalpy and the volume fraction of alpha-Fe(Si) decreased
with increasing B concentration. We can well explain this result by th
eir model.
