Muon spin relaxation in solid He-3 exhibits a nonmonotonic temperature
dependence. It is shown that this dependence is associated solely wit
h the magnetic-dipole interaction. The observed line narrowing does no
t agree with the hopping mechanism of the motion of a positively charg
ed particle within the scope of the well-known activation law. An anom
alous increase of the relaxation rate under the action of an electric
field was found at low temperatures. (C) 1995 American Institute of Ph
