G. Krauter et Ws. Rees, CADMIUM BIS(ALKYLTHIOLATE) COMPLEXES AS PRECURSORS FOR CADMIUM-SULFIDE - A MILD ROUTE TO HAWLEYITE, Journal of materials chemistry, 5(8), 1995, pp. 1265-1267
The preparation, characterization and thermolysis of Cd(SR)(2) (R = Pr
-i, Bu(t), Bz), [Cd(SPri)(2) . 1-methylimidazole] and {[Cd(SBz)(2)](2)
. 1-methylimidazole} are reported. The volatile organosulfur reaction
co-products were identified as RSR, or its subsequent secondary decom
position products. Hawleyite is formed from Cd(SBz)(2) at 300 degrees
C, 0.1 atm, 4 h; whereas the other two Cd(SR), examples produce the ex
pected Greenockite.
