Abstract
Neutron and proton emission due to possible solid state fusion events is monitored from a palladium sample loaded with deuterium gas to atom ic fractions up to 0.7. Most of the experimental runs show no detectab le activity above background rates, indicating a fusion rate <2.7 X 10 (-22)s(-1)/deuterium-deuterium (D-D) pair. Two brief excursions by the proton counter might indicate a temporary rate of 3.5 X 10(-21)s(-1)/ D-D pair.
