Abstract
In several commercial capillary electrophoretic instruments, the poten tial is increased linearly at the beginning of a separation from zero to the programmed value. The ramp time can be as long as 20 s, resulti ng in grossly distorted mobility values when the migration times are c ommensurable with the ramp times. An expression is proposed to correct for the effects of the reduced held strength during the initial poten tial ramp.
