Abstract
A new hydrazide, 3-ethyl-4(3H)-quinazolinone-2-ylmercaptoacetic acid h ydrazide 3 was synthesized by the reaction of 3-ethyl-4(3H)-quinazolin one-2-ylmercaptoacetic acid ethyl ester with hydrazine hydrate. Subseq uent treatment of 3 with aromatic aldehydes and alkyl/arylisothiocyana tes furnished the corresponding hydrazones 4a-f and the thiosemicarbaz ides 5a-e, respectively. Cyclocondensation of 5a-e in sulfuric acid yi elded the thiadiazoles 6a-d. All the synthesized compounds were tested for in vitro antimicrobial action against some aerobic bacteria and C .albicans.
