Abstract
A simple simulation model for Vicia faba growth mainly based on analyt ical results from field experiments with two contrasting genotypes und er conditions free from visible stress and diseases is presented. In t he model, dry matter is produced as a function of light interception a nd utilization. Newly produced and retranslocated dry matter is partit ioned between roots and shoots, vegetative and generative shoot organs as well as leaves and stems. Assumptions made are discussed and compa risons between simulated and measured results are shown.
