This paper analyses the stratigraphic disorganization of the Mesozoic
and Cenozoic in the Malaguide Complex of the Malaga area and concludes
that this disorganization was caused by gravitational tectonics, whic
h arranged most of the Meso-Cenozoic in olistostrome-type chaotic mass
es. The deformations occurred between the Middle Eocene and the latest
Oligocene. The paper also reports the presence of up to now partially
unknown Eocene sediments, deposited in lagoonal environments. Finally
, for the first time, the existence around Malaga of sediments belongi
ng to the Upper Oligocene - Aquitanian Ciudad Granada Group and the Lo
wer Burdigalian Vinuela Group is shown.
