Abstract
We use two correlation functions to describe the antiphase dynamics wh ich occurs in globally coupled systems. Explicit results are obtained for the case of intracavity second harmonic generation. Our analysis i ndicates the optimum timing for switching pulses and supports the conc ept of dynamical independence of clustered modes.
