Abstract
Metal-free trimethylgermyl anions were prepared by cleavage of the Ge- Si bond of (trimethylsilyl)trimethylgermane and the Ge-Ge bond of hexa methyldigermane with tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF) in hexamethylp hosphoric triamide (HMPA). The reactions of metal-free germyl anions p roduced by a catalytic or one-equivalent amount of TBAF with organic h alides carbonyl compounds, and alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones were exa mined.
