M. Neuman et al., EARLY UTERINE PROLAPSE FOLLOWING COLPONEEDLE SUSPENSION, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 35(3), 1995, pp. 339-340
The association of retropubic colposuspension for the treatment of uri
nary stress incontinence with genital prolapse has been reported previ
ously. Described here is a case of an 83-year-old patient who had a co
lponeedle suspension and was readmitted because of genital prolapse 3
weeks after surgery. This case emphasizes the need for proper evaluati
on of the whole pelvic floor prior to any surgical treatment for urina
ry incontinence, and addition of appropriate surgical measures aimed t
o avoid later genital prolapse, if necessary.
