Abstract
Single crystals of the isostructural series Ln(OH)CrO4, Ln=Y,Dy-Lu, we re grown by the hydrothermal method. They crystallize in the monoclini c system, P2(1)/n and Z=8. The lattice parameters decrease when the at omic number of the lanthanide cations increases, owing to the lanthani de contraction. Thermal decomposition in nitrogen flow, magnetic behav iour in the 4.2-300 K temperature range and vibrational spectra (IR an d Raman) of these compounds have been investigated.
