Hf. Chen et al., INFLUENCE OF RARE-EARTH VITAMIN-C COMPOUND ON THE GROWTH OF LIVESTOCKAND POULTRY, Journal of alloys and compounds, 225(1-2), 1995, pp. 626-628
The formula of synthesized rare earth-vitamin C (RE-Vc) compound is RE
(OH)(C6H7O6)(2) . 2H(2)O. It is a yellowish-brown powder and soluble i
n water. Adding it to feed for livestock, poultry and aquaculture will
promote their growth. The weight growth was raised by 5-15%, the coef
ficient of feed utilized increased by 5-12% and the survival rate incr
eased by about 5%. The LD(50) value of RE-Vc compound for rats and chi
cken is more than 15 000 mg kg(-1). The accumulated coefficient for ra
ts is more than five, regarded as slight accumulation. The level of RE
residual for the tested pig, chicken and fish fed with RE-Vc compound
shows no obvious differences compared with the untreated animals. RE
was accumulated mainly in the viscera such as bone, liver, stomach, sp
leen. No residual was found in the edible meat.
