We describe a fatal outcome in a three-year-old child following massiv
e stings by the oriental hornet (Vespa orientalis). The primary clinic
al features were coma, respiratory failure, coagulopathy, renal failur
e and liver dysfunction. On postmortem the main organs involved were b
rain, lungs, kidneys and liver.
