A protocol for communicating sequential processes under different serv
ice conditions has been suggested. A timing mechanism has been incorpo
rated to support synchronous and real time applications. Network perfo
rmance has been evaluated in such a case by computer simulation. Trade
off between throughput and average packet delay at a node has been fou
nd out at different packet generation rates. Commitment control has be
en incorporated in the protocol using an immediate acknowledgement sch
eme and the system performance has been observed.
