Abstract
This paper presents the use of network sensitivity factors for allevia ting line overflow. The network sensitivity factors are enhanced to co nsider multiple circuits between two adjacent buses. Associated with t he sensitivities, a rule based system is presented for correcting the line overload after a contingency occurs. The accuracy of the sensitiv ities, selection of the swing bus and impact of multigenerators at a c ommon bus are discussed. The IEEE 30-bus system and a practical 265-bu s system in Taiwan are used as samples to show the applicability of th e rule based system proposed in this paper.
