Abstract
The reduction reaction of ketones by sodium borohydride has been inves tigated in a two-phase medium using an inverse phase-transfer catalysi s (IPTC) technique in the presence of surfactants (monomeric and polym eric species). The phase transfer process is always catalyzed by micel lar aggregates. The main role of the surfactant is to promote the tran sfer of the lipophilic substrate into the water phase.
