The action of the couple hexamethylphosphorous triamide (TDAP)/carbon
tetrachloride (CCl4) on the fatty amides of the 3-hydroxy-2-hydroxymet
hyl-2-methyl-propionic acid leads to the corresponding alkyloxy [tris(
dimethylamino) phosphonium] monosalts (ATDP salts) in the form of chlo
rides, azides, and hexafluorophosphates. This reaction is applied to f
atty amides containing perhydrogenated or perfluorinated chains and al
so to amides prepared with compounds containing an aminoacid fatty-est
er substituent. These ATDP salts are used as substrates for nucleophil
ic substitution to prepare the corresponding chloro, azido or morpholi
no derivatives, These compounds are potentially new hydrophobic ''synt
hons'' for surfactant ''modular strategy method''.
