Abstract
Antibody production is the key step of any immunochemical technique, T he antibody determines to a large extent the specificity and sensitivi ty of the resulting immunochemical technique, These features may be mo dulated by judicious design of the immunogen and by rational immunoass ay development, Criteria for hapten design and the steps involved in t he obtention of antibodies and the development of competitive assays a re described.
