Jpc. Vissers et al., COMPARISON OF SPHERICALLY AND IRREGULARLY SHAPED STATIONARY-PHASE PACKINGS IN MICROCOLUMN LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY, The Journal of microcolumn separations, 7(3), 1995, pp. 239-245
Spherically and irregularly shaped reversed phase packings were used t
o slurry pack capillary fused silica columns. The selection of the pac
king solvents was based on the colloidal properties of the stationary
phase particles and investigated by sedimentation experiments. The chr
omatographic performance of the microcolumns was measured with convent
ional parameters from plate and rate theories, and the column resistan
ce parameter and separation impedance. Also studied was the time of an
alysis. The performance of spherical and irregular packings was compar
able with a light preference for spherically shaped materials when tim
e of analysis is concerned. (C) 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
