Abstract
An extension of the Alien and Goldfinger model of the prediction of th e color of absorbing-scattering fibers to the case of a colorant mixtu re has been proposed. Using this approach, the spectral reflectance of an array of dyed polyester fibers with a colorant mixture are calcula ted from spectral absorbance measurements of the colorant. The results are compared to those calculated by applying Kubelka-Munk analysis on the predicted reflectances of each of the colorant mixture's componen ts. The predicted spectral reflectances coincide well with those measu red experimentally. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
