The effect of FcT[Ferricenium trichloroacetate, bis(trichloroacetic ac
id) solvate] on the biosynthesis of DNA in EAC cells in vitro was repo
rted in this paper. The experimental results show that FcT, similar to
another anticancer agent titanocene dichloride(TDC), caused a remarka
ble depression of DNA synthesis activities, and the half-inhibition co
ncentration for FcT is about 1.0X10(-4) mol/L. The irreversible and lo
ng-lasting inhibition manner of FcT on DNA biosynthesis indicated that
the DNA template was injured by FcT. Meanwhile, the fluorescent quenc
hing of DNA-EB complex by FcT revealed that the DNA duplex might be da
maged by FcT.
