Abstract
The beta-orcinol depsidone, conhypoprotocetraric acid (2), has been id entified in the lichens Relicina cf. incongrua and Lecanora myriocarpo ides. This new depsidone has been synthesized and characterized, and t he biosynthetic implications are discussed.
