Abstract
fic gene expression at the stationary phase is dependent on RpoS (sigm a(38)). For this paper, the fic promoter (P fic) mutants were isolated ; C at the position -34 was changed into T. They did not show the stat ionary phase-specific expression dependent on RpoS in vivo. Furthermor e, it was confirmed that they were recognized by E sigma(70) as effici ently as E sigma(38) ill vitro.
