U. Hohenleutner et al., EXPERIENCE WITH THE EARLY TREATMENT OF CHILDHOOD HEMANGIOMATA USING THE FLASHLAMP-PUMPED DYE-LASER, Lasers in medical science, 11(3), 1996, pp. 181-183
Small cutaneous haemangiomata of infancy respond well to treatment wit
h the flashlamp-pumped dye laser (FPDL). Optimum use of laser paramete
rs can produce a regression in over 75% of such lesions. In very early
lesions, a complete resolution can be achieved in up to 55% of cases.
Since this therapy is quick and effective, and side-effects are minim
al, FPDL treatment of all haemangiomas of infancy presenting early sho
uld be recommended, even if progression to deep haemangiomas cannot be
prevented in all cases.
