Abstract
A new bibliographic structure is proposed for use in today's online li brary catalogs. The structure is a MARC bibliographic record consistin g almost entirely of indexed access points-in essence, many cross-refe rences assembled into one record, all pointing to a serial. It is expe cted that these analytical cross-references will improve serials catal oging by providing author and title access to distinctive volumes of m onographic series that have been cataloged as serials.
