Abstract
The application of mid-infrared reflection spectroscopy to the identif ication of non-metallic components recovered from automobile scrapyard s is described. Identification of all the polymers used in the car ind ustry can be achieved reliably in less than 10 s per identification. T he method does not require that samples be removed from the component.
