Nl. Thomas et Jp. Quirk, USE OF BOTTLE RECYCLATE IN RIGID PVC FOAM, Plastics, rubber and composites processing and applications, 24(2), 1995, pp. 89-96
It has been demonstrated that recycled PVC bottle material from the Re
prise Technologies plant can be used successfully in Ca/Zn stabilized
PVC-U foam formulations to produce profile of saleable quality. Increa
sing amounts of bottle recyclate had no significant effect on gelation
time, melt theology or plate-out characteristics and gave rise to an
improvement in thermal stability. Foam blends were extruded on a produ
ction-scale co-extrusion line to produce profile of good surface finis
h and low foam density. Using up to 100% PVC bottle recyclate did not
affect the density, cell structure or impact properties of the co-extr
uded foam profile.
