Abstract
We used the VLA-D configuration to synthesize the spatial distribution of lambda 21 cm emission from the well-known Seyfert galaxies NGC 405 1 and 6814. Both systems are characterized by an annular distribution of atomic gas but that in 4051 is generally much more regular, and mor e nearly contiguous with the optical image; still, it may be warped at large radii, as evidenced by the presence of a second, weaker kinemat ic component along the major axis. The gas disk of NGC 6814 is much la rger than the optical image, which sits entirely within the central H I depression, and is substantially kinematically warped outside the op tical image in the main body of the galaxy.
