DOPPLER IMAGING OF V471-TAU

We present Doppler images of the precataclysmic variable V471 Tau. The se images show a large high-latitude spot similar to other magneticall y active stars (RS CVn, FK Com), as well as a persistent spot in the d irection of the white dwarf. Comparison with simultaneous photometry i s complicated by limited phase coverage, but the spectroscopy and phot ometry are consistent with each other. The rotational velocity of the late-type star is 91+/-4 km/s, which implies a star oversized for its spectral type. (C) 1995 American Astronomical Society.
