Abstract
For digital phase detection, the characteristic polynomial method perm its algorithms that are insensitive to the harmonic content of the sig nal and insensitive to miscalibration to be designed easily. It is sho wn here that this method can also be used to design algorithms that ar e insensitive to a possible bias modulation of the intensity. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America
