F. Bosco et al., EXPERIMENTAL IDENTIFICATION OF A SCALABLE REACTOR CONFIGURATION FOR LIGNIN PEROXIDASE PRODUCTION BY PHANEROCHAETE-CHRYSOSPORIUM, Journal of biotechnology, 52(1), 1996, pp. 21-29
The present work concerns the experimental verification of a suitable
scalable reactor configuration for lignin peroxidases production by Ph
anerochaete chrysosporium. Tests were performed in 30 mi working volum
e Erlenmayer flasks, 150 mi Fernbach flasks and a 5 cm ID, 83 cm high
Trickle Fixed Bed Reactor working in batch mode with 250 mi of liquid
medium. Shear stress, biofilm thickness and aeration have been shown t
o be the key parameters for the control of lignin peroxidase productio
n. Biofilm thickness was identified as a main scale up parameter. The
results. compared with those found in the literature, are encouraging
for further optimization of the reactor device and scale increase. Bio
film thickness and gas and liquid superficial velocities have been ide
ntified as variables in the optimization of lignin peroxidase producti
on in a Trikle Fixed Bed Reactor configuration. Copyright (C) 1996 Els
