Abstract
An acousto-optic tuned erbium-doped fibre laser is demonstrated which exhibits a tuning speed of <20 mu s over a bandwidth of >220nm, with n o relaxation oscillations. Relaxation oscillations are eliminated by a n all-optical technique involving a nonlinear amplified loop mirror.
