Y. Makioka et al., GENERATION OF ALLENIC SAMARIUM COMPLEXES FROM PSOPARGYLIC ETHERS AND (C(5)ME(5))(2)SM(THF)(2), AND THEIR ELECTROPHILIC TRAPPING, Tetrahedron letters, 36(35), 1995, pp. 6283-6286
Allenic samarium complexes are readily generated in high yields by the
reaction of propargylic benzyl ethers with (C(5)Me(5))(2)Sm(thf)(2).
Electrophilic trapping of the complexes derived from the secondary and
tertiary ethers with cyclohexanone and dimethylphenylsifyl chloride g
ives the corresponding propargylic products selectively, whereas alpha
-allenic alcohols are predominantly obtained in the reaction of the co
mplexes, generated from the primary ethers, with cyclohexanone.
