Abstract
The reaction of beta-alkylthiopropionyl tetrafluoroborates with alkene s results in formation of 6-membered cyclic sulfonium salts. Succeedin g cleavage of sulfonium salts by bases affords the corresponding 5-alk ythiopent-1-en-3-ones.
