W. Perry, GENERALIZED NODULAR DERMATOFIBROSIS AND RENAL CYSTADENOMA IN A SERIESOF 10 CLOSELY-RELATED GERMAN-SHEPHERD DOGS, Australian veterinary practitioner, 25(2), 1995, pp. 90-93
Generalised nodular dermatofibrosis is reported in a number of closely
related German Shepherds. Six case studies are described with three c
ases having concurrent renal pathology, including polycystic kidney an
d renal cystadenoma. Skin lesions involved firm nodules affecting the
distal limbs and head, which appear in dogs usually over four years of
age. These nodules progressively increase in size and number. There a
ppeared to be a close link between the skin disorder and renal patholo
gy in these related dogs.
