Abstract
A different way of conceptualizing the practice of student affairs wor k is described, and the benefits of a critical cultural perspective fo r student affairs practitioners are considered. More specifically, the work of educators who seek to transform institutional cultures and es tablish an ethic of care and democratic principles as central organizi ng concepts is examined.
