Classical trajectory rigid-rotor calculations have been employed to ca
lculate the viscomagnetic and thermomagnetic effects, broadening of th
e Depolarized Rayleigh line and NMR relaxation using the anisotropic a
b initio potential energy hypersurface of van der Pol et al. for tempe
ratures between 77 K and 1500 K. Comparison with experiment shows that
the calculated relaxation cross-sections generally overestimate the v
alues inferred from experiment by 20-30%, suggesting that this potenti
al surface is too anisotropic in the well region. The small coupling c
ross-sections are generally in satisfactory agreement with the measure
ments.
