Maculatifrondis aequatoriensis gen. et sp. nov. is described from livi
ng leaves of an unidentified palm in Cuyabeno, Ecuador. The species ha
s unusual ascospores, early deliquescing asci and a Cyclodomus anamorp
h and its taxonomic relationships are unknown, although it may belong
in the Phyllachoraceae. Myelosperma parasitica sp. nov. causes leaf sp
ots on Phoenix reclinata in South Africa. Both species are described a
nd illustrated with differential interference micrographs.
