EFFECT OF GAMMA CHANGE ON PICTURE QUALITY TESTED BY SUBJECTIVE EVALUATION

We proposed that the gamma of a display should be taken into account i n addition to chromaticity change, contrast, and reversal halftone ima ge in order to define the maximum viewing angle(1>). In this study, it was examined that preference of the gamma from the point of view of p icture quality. Subjective evaluation of picture quality was performed for examining how the change of gamma effected the quality of picture s on a display. It was found that a little change in gamma remarkably influenced the picture quality. An acceptable allowance of gamma was a lso measured.
