Abstract
Results are presented of the design and performance of a microstrip tr ansmitter/receiver circuit using thick-film yttrium barium copper oxid e on a yttria-stabilised zirconia substrate. The resonant circuit is i n the form of a ring resonator and the active component is a transferr ed electron device integrated within the circumference of the ring. In receive mode, the circuit operates as a self-oscillating mixer. Opera ting frequencies lie in the range 8 to 16 GHz and measurements include : Q-factor by injection phase locking; oscillator output power and con version loss.
