Aneurysms of the pancreaticoduodenal artery are rare and may be associ
ated with celiac artery stenosis or occlusion. Twenty-eight patients a
re reported in the literature. The diagnostic findings and therapeutic
alternatives of four additional patients form the basis of this repor
t. One patient with ruptured pancreaticoduodenal aneurysm was successf
ully treated by transcatheter embolization, and one patient was treate
d surgically; both patients had an uneventful recovery. In the remaini
ng two patients, the aneurysms were left untreated. One patient died 1
year later of an unrelated cause, and the other patient is symptomfre
e after 2 years.
